There is no shortage of protein bars out on the market these days. You can find them just about anywhere you shop. The hardest thing to do is to try and navigate through them all and narrow it down to what you want to try.

We’re going to simplify the process for you and drop some of the best protein bars (in our opinion) and why we feel they are something you should look for and give a try.

Why Protein Bars?

Protein bars should never be used to replace real food. However, in a pinch, they can come in handy when you are hungry, but there’s nothing else around (or you simply want to increase your protein intake and use them as a snack between meals).

When looking for a protein bar, you’re going to want something with at least 5-10% of its calories coming from protein. For instance, if a bar is 200 calories, look to see if it has between 10-20g of protein. The more protein, the better.

What Protein Bars Should You Try?

Below are some great choices for protein bars to suit many different wants and needs. Are there more bars out there that are amazing? Absolutely, but here is a solid mix of textures, ingredients, and overall profiles.

  1. Outright Bars

If you’re looking for some ridiculously delicious protein bars that aren’t full of junk and fillers, check out the Outright Bars. They have upwards of 20g of protein per bar and are made of all-natural ingredients like nut butters, honey, oats, and whey protein isolate. After trying just about every flavor, I can’t find a single one that I didn’t like. However, if you’re a fan of cookies & cream, that might be a good flavor to start with.

  1. Misfits Plant-Powered Protein Bars

Are you following a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle? No worries! These bars are perfect plant-based protein bars that will send your taste buds into orbit. With 15g of protein per bar, these small but mighty 100% vegan-friendly bars can easily fit in your bag and travel anywhere you do. In terms of flavors, the mint choc chip is one you should definitely try.

  1. Power Crunch Bars

Power Crunch bars aren’t typical protein bars. In fact, they are more of a “protein wafer” bar. If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, Power Crunch can hit the spot. With plenty of flavors to choose from and each bar coming in around 13g of protein, these crunchy wafers are insanely delectable. If you like strawberries, the strawberry crème is spot on and a must-have in your pantry.

  1. Quest Protein Bar

If you consider yourself an “OG” in the supplement world, you remember when Quest protein bars first hit the scene. They were the craze, and everyone rushed out to get their hands on them. Today, they are still going strong and continue to grow and expand. Each bar has around 21g of protein, and no matter what you’re craving, Quest has a flavor that will leave your mouth watering long after you’ve devoured the bar. What flavor should you start with? The cookie dough is always a staple that continues to sell great for the brand but don’t be afraid to be adventurous, all the flavors are excellent.
