Peloton’s Alex Toussaint shares how discipline, gratitude, and purpose fuel his journey — from pre-class rituals to partnering with THRONE.
Alex Toussaint isn't just a fitness instructor. He’s a movement, on and off the bike. Known for his relentless energy, powerful motivation, and unwavering authenticity, the Peloton star has turned his discipline into a platform that inspires millions.
Toussaint’s high-octane presence on the bike may seem effortless, but it’s the product of a deeply intentional pre-class routine that begins well before he steps into the studio. “My routine starts from the moment I wake up,” he says. “Movement, mobility, mindset realignment — all start in my personal gym.” He fuels himself physically with hydration, fruit, and a Throne SPORT COFFEE, but mentally, it’s a different kind of fuel: gratitude.
“When I’m not feeling my best mentally or physically, I simply just show up,” he shares. “I remind myself of the times in life where I didn’t have the opportunity to have something to show up for. Because I can show up, I must.”
It’s that resilient mindset that’s shaped Toussaint's evolution from a kid in military school to one of fitness’s most influential voices. His secret? Discipline. When motivation wavers, as it does for everyone, he falls back on structure. “I go back to the fundamental tools taught to me in military school: discipline will carry me when motivation won’t,” he says. “I’m human, and like any other person out there, I’m not motivated to get up every single day and do the things that I need to do. However, I was taught at a young age: as long as I put out my clothes the night before, I make my bed first thing in the morning, and I get some level of movement, I’m already putting my body and my mind in a position to move forward and progress.”
From laying out clothes the night before to making his bed in the morning, Toussaint relies on these seemingly small and simple habits to help set the tone for his day.
As his career continues to accelerate, through his rides, brand partnerships, and entrepreneurial pursuits, Toussaint keeps his vision grounded in a sense of purpose. He’s especially driven to uplift young dreamers who see their potential reflected in his journey.
“To that young version of me,” he says, “the dreams you dream — keep dreaming. The things you believe in — keep believing. That’s your ultimate strength, your internal compass.” His /message to others: don’t abandon your vision, even if others can’t see it yet. “Keep your heart pure, keep your mind sharp, and move with a purpose. Execute with an intention, and your dreams can come true.”
Even with new ventures like his partnership with Throne SPORT COFFEE on the rise, Toussaint is intentionally resisting the urge to rush into the next big thing. “One of the things I’m trying to focus on is trying to stay more in the present and embrace the things that we’ve accomplished in real time.” Instead, he’s taking a rare pause to appreciate how far he’s come. “I think we get to our destination and we’re so quick to start a new journey,” he reflects. “Sometimes we need to just appreciate the journey that we accomplished.”
For now, Toussaint plans to “stay grounded in this journey” while he waits to embark on the next chapter, which he promises will be “something special and definitely purposeful.” In the meantime, you can find him rooted in gratitude, driven by discipline, and always pedaling with purpose.
