Danielle Brandon doesn’t just step onto the CrossFit competition floor to participate — she steps on it to dominate.

“To humble my competitors,” she says bluntly, when asked what drives her on competition day. That fierce competitive spirit and her unmistakable individuality have made her a fan favorite in the CrossFit community.

But beneath the grit and performance is a woman who’s found balance amidst the chaos of elite training. With CrossFit demanding both relentless physical effort and unwavering mental focus, burnout is an all-too-common fear for many athletes. Brandon’s secret, though? Staying grounded in the simple joys of life. “I make sure to enjoy the things I normally enjoy in or out of season — like the beach, seeing my friends, walking my dog. Anything outside the gym,” she shares.

It’s this authenticity that resonates with fans just as much as her athleticism. Brandon has never tried to fit a mold, and that freedom to be herself has been both a personal and competitive asset. “It allows me to further be myself both inside and outside the gym,” she says of embracing her unique story and personality.

Recovery, too, is a major piece of the puzzle. For Brandon, it’s not just about rest — it’s about resetting with intention. “I love to be tan,” she laughs, adding, “so I love to enjoy the sun, eat enough good food, sauna, and cold plunge.” For Brandon, indulging in these simple pleasures is the best form of self-care outside of the gym, allowing her to rest, replenish, and return ready to perform at the highest level.

The combination of proper rest, recovery, fuel, and training allows Brandon’s confidence to come from her preparation, not rituals or superstitions. “I’m not a superstitious person,” she says, alluding to the fact that she knows she has what it takes to win without relying on anything but herself.

While Brandon is still deep in the world of CrossFit, she imagines herself giving another sport a go if she weren’t a CrossFit athlete. “I would try to continue pole vaulting,” she says, but notes that coaching is also on her radar. “I’d like to coach post-career – something outside of CrossFit.”

Whether she’s in the CrossFit spotlight or sharing her secrets with another athlete on the rise, Brandon’s impact on the athletic world is far from finished.
